You’re either stuck, lost, unhappy, depressed, mindless, looking for more, dopamine chasing, unfulfilled, people pleasing, living the wrong life, or maybe all of the above.

If so, you have to change because if you don’t, you will lay on your death bed, filled with a bone-chilling amount of shame and regret.

You are going to lay there, taking your last breaths, wishing you did more, wishing you helped more, wishing you saw more, wishing you learned more, wishing you lived the life you wanted, not the life society handed you.

I may not be on my deathbed, but I felt this regret almost 3 years ago when entering my junior year of high school.

I felt like the biggest failure. Overweight, sad, caught up in doing bad stuff, rude, $45 in my bank account, doing nothing productive in my life. I had officially been at rock bottom, yet I thought I was living the time of my life.

I was a narcissist caught up in only doing things I wanted while treating those around me like shit.

While I may not be proud of this point of my life, this was the starting point of my own “self-development” story.

It started with looking in the mirror and being so unhappy and disgusted with my mental and physical identity. So, I changed. I got a gym membership and started deep diving.

I watched hundreds of Youtube videos on dieting, lifting, personal finance, self-development, and the whole 9 yards.

Here was phase one in reclaiming my life and the stepping stone for my self-corrected life path.

I did what was needed to see the changes I wanted, and while I’ll never reach the person I want to be, I can say 3 years later, I am a hell of a lot closer than I was.

Now I can already tell you’re asking, “Why is any of this important?” Great question, but let me flip it and ask you; are you where you want to be? Are you happy with what you’ve done and are doing with your life?

Take a moment and reflect on your life currently. 20 years down the line, will you be happy knowing this is how you spent it?

Potentially the answer is yes. If so, great, keep going. Then, for those of you that said no, listen up.

I will provide the starting point to you getting your life going towards where you want it to be, but you have to listen and drop the ego.

We both know every time you hear someone trying to help you, the first thing your ego says is: oh, I don’t have to do that, or Oh, I’m just fine; that doesn’t pertain to me.

Cut the shit.

If you’re here to read this, drop the ego and listen to what I am trying to say. Realize your ego wants to make you feel like you are doing just fine or that what I say is a load of shit. Throw it away. Because, to be honest, if you are not where you want to be, then your own ego stands for nothing.

All I want to do is help, but you have to allow your mind to open up to new perspectives. Not just mine but also the endless list of people on the internet trying to help you. Let people help you, do what they say, and put in the effort. It is much easier than you think, but you have first to acknowledge change is needed.

What is a Self-Corrected Path?

I first heard this term from businessman and social media creator Iman Gadzhi during a course of his, and ever since, it has stuck with me. There is no “definition” for it, but in our case, a self-corrected path is where you go through life continuously learning/growing, and when you hit stumps in the road, you find your way around it and keep going.

A self-corrected path means adopting a lifestyle where you learn and grow forever. A direction where you move forward, and when an issue arises, you find the solution and keep moving forward.

Once they graduate high school or college, most of society stops learning, which is detrimental to their progress in life. This doesn’t make any of them a failure, but it limits certain potentials within these people.

This is why the majority of them end up living somewhat identical lives. They go through the same motions as one another and never take the time to do what they want. They don’t take the reigns and choose their outcome. Instead, they let the result happen to them.

Going through each day and growing in every aspect of your life is the key to a fulfilling life. Growing stands for being a better person. Being a better person within your relationships, earning more money, learning more things, and getting in shape mentally and physically.

Growing stands for so much, and once you can see the endless lengths of growth you can accomplish, you can realize growth is your self-corrected path to the life you want.

Living this newfound lifestyle can lead you to whatever you wish to obtain. This path is a lifelong journey to putting one foot in front of the other so you can say that you gave it your all when your time comes. Don’t you want to be a role model to your family and be known for doing so much, not so little?

Nothing about life is typically easy. Yes, some people have it better than you but get over it. Living in this victimizing mindset will never allow you to adopt the self-corrected path mindset, and you’ll never live the life you want.

The self-corrected path is your way to what you want. A life where you decide, a life where you are your best self, and a life where you reach limits you didn’t even know existed.

Stop, Reflect, Go

Your go-to framework for adopting the self-corrected path.

The method of living a self-corrected path is quite simple. And it starts at the most important part.

Realization.

You have to understand that the only way for you to get better is to grow, leave the job you hate, make more money, lose weight, whatever it is that comes top of mind. It all starts with the realization that you have to change. The way you live day to day must take change in order to be better and change the variable you want to.

Next, you have to consume.

Books, podcasts, newsletters (like this one), the right people on social media, Youtube videos, and much more. Consume as much information as you can to develop an understanding of what to do to see the change you want.

Then, with the base level understanding you have, attack.

Fully commit to your new lifestyle. From now on, each day, you are going to get better. Never end a day knowing you didn’t do anything to advance your life. Go to the gym, read a book, email 50 people about mentoring you, network with individuals to create a like-minded group, and meditate. Whatever you need to do each day, know that you put in the effort and gave it all you had.

If you have the realization you need to change, then you now have a responsibility to take the actions required to see the change through.

Side note- this is not a couple-month thing. When I say this is your lifestyle, I mean for life. Do you want to end your existence and think, “I should have done more?” No. Quit allowing the voice in your head telling you to quit to overtake your mind. Master yourself. Keep pushing. No one said this would be easy, but I sure as hell know I would rather give it everything I got than just life an eh life. Are you willing to do the same?

Build.

Build systems, relationships, knowledge, muscle, mind, intelligence, and boundaries. Build everything. Treat every part of your life like your Bob The Builder. As you grow, you must build every aspect of your life so they grow with you.

Resourcefulness.

When you reach a standstill, you must find the answer to your problem and keep going. The worst thing you can do is be complacent because complacency is the killer of all efforts to change, but only if you allow it.

Consume more content, consult with others, buy a course, try and fail, learn, and grow. Do what needs to be done to solve the level of life you are on and keep moving forward. Don’t take a step forward to move 4 steps back.

Reminder

Have fun.

For your sake, enjoy the process. No, it won’t be easy, and no one ever said it would. Either way, just enjoy your time in life and put in the effort. As I’ve said, we are adopting a lifestyle, so we show up every day.

Learn to be hard on yourself, but also when to slow down. We don’t want to crash and burn 5 months down the line; we want to incorporate this new way of living with sustainability.

Also, do what works for you. What I’ve shared should be an outline; you get to fill in all the bits and pieces.

In summary, realize you need to change, take the necessary actions with effort and intent, research how to solve problems when necessary, learn and grow daily, and never stay complacent.

If you can adopt these, you are already so far ahead and on the right track to a fulfilled life of happiness and doing what you want.
